Honda Marine Somerset West Embrace Technology In After sales Environment

Honda Marine Somerset West, which opened its doors for business in April 2009, has embraced diagnostic technology in the workshop from inception.

The workshop is headed up by Brian Pinn, who has previously headed up workshops for the flagship BMW franchises and as such is an old hand at using computer diagnostics to refine maintenance and repairs. “With today’s sophisticated technology it is neigh impossible to accurately diagnose and effect repairs without this technology”,
says Pinn.

The equipment in question is Dr H which when coupled to the engine provides a host of information relating to the engines operation and faults encountered during operation. Once an engine has been diagnosed using Dr H, on its next visit to the dealership it will automatically bring up the history of that engine on the screen, which saves valuable time and removes the guesswork entirely.

“The beauty of the system is that we can run a engine on our test tank coupled up to Dr H and assess the engine under load right here at our premises’ says Brian and that leads to quicker turn round time for the client ensuring that he maximizes his leisure time.

Dr H gives a full history of the operating time including number of starts, max RPM hours of operation split between partial use and total time and details of any warnings that might have been triggered during operation, such as over revving, oil pressure, fuel flow, overheating etc.

And you thought that telemetries were the sole domain of F1!
