The President of Honda Motor South Africa Mr. Yoshiaki Nakamura officially opened Honda Marine Somerset West on the 22 May 2010. Honda Marine Somerset West is an independently owned private company, which is owner run and is exclusively a Marine Leisure Dealership.
16 months later the business grows from strength to strength courtesy of the hospitality of the local community.
The dealership acquired the assets of the well established Aqua Mall which was previously operated by Chris and Mandy Teer, “it made sense to base ourselves in the premises as they had been custom developed to house a marine facility and have proven very efficient” said Jeremy
Says Jeremy Barnes, dealer principal of Honda Marine Somerset West,” we understand that we have been entrusted with our clients most valuable asset, their leisure time, and we take our responsibility very seriously, we believe that the after sales arena is the area of the business that we can make a significant impact and hence 9 of the total staff compliment of 13, are dedicated to after sales service.
We know that our customers are the very reason that the business exists, and have dedicated time and effort to assembling a team of professionals who we believe are well placed to be of valuable service to our customers.
Our workshop under the competent guidance of Brian Pinn our after sales manager, is fully equipped with full computer diagnostic equipment for the engines that we service, and boasts a reverse in test tank which enables us to conduct engine tests under load, right here on site. This means that we are able to diagnose and attend to faults that would otherwise be impossible to do unless the boat was tested on open water, which is not always practical
Whist the dealership is a Honda and Mercruizer Franchised Dealership we are also accredited service agents for Mercury and Mariner outboard engines. The workshop offers a range of services, covering annual services, seaworthy examinations and complete restorations and fiberglass repairs.
Our parts and accessories department, headed up by Louise Linde is a very important part of the business and stocks a broad range of products from water sports equipment to engine parts and fish finders, in the event that we do not have what you require in stock, Louise will source it for you. Connelly, O’Brien, Body Glove, Zero, and Lowrance are but a few of the brands we stock
The dealership is often, mistakenly, believed to be an extension of the well respected Honda Helderburg, this is of course not true, as stated earlier it is an independent free standing dealership and is in no way connected to or affiliated to the Rola Group.
Honda Marine Somerset West are agents for Angler boats and carry a range of their superb hulls including the Panache, Kestral, Odyssey, and Benguella brands, the range caters for all users, from fishing to water sport platforms. In the larger leisure boats Honda Marine Somerset West also represent the World Cat and Glacier Bay range of Catamarans.
Andre Bloemhoff and Jeremy Barnes are on hand to assist with new and used boat purchases. During the 17 months that we have been conducting business in the area, we have had the privilege of supporting the Gordons Bay NSRI during the links festival and have recently refurbished Strand Surf Life Saving’s rescue craft and repowered it with a brand new Honda BF 30Hp 4 stroke engine. Both of these organizations are operated by volunteers from the community, providing essential services, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to assist them on behalf of our customers.
